The first Croatian Congress of Aesthetic Medicine with international participation was held on June 16-17, 2018, at the Milenij Hotel in Opatija.

Organized by the Croatian Association of Aesthetic Medicine, in collaboration with prestigious international experts from the Union Internationale de Médecine Esthétique and the Società Italiana di Medicina Estetica, this congress laid the foundation for the development of aesthetic medicine in Croatia. We are proud to highlight that Away was the technical organizer of this significant event.
The significance of the congress for the Croatian medical community
Although the number of doctors specializing in aesthetic medicine in Croatia was relatively small at the time, the congress attracted more than 200 participants and 40 local and international speakers from 12 countries. Interest in the event was exceptionally high, further reinforced by the support of numerous institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Tourism, the Croatian Medical Chamber, the University of Rijeka, and the Tourist Board of Kvarner and the City of Opatija.
Aesthetic medicine – more than just beauty
As emphasized by Dr. Elma Bunar, President of the Croatian Association of Aesthetic Medicine, aesthetic medicine is not just about fillers and Botox but also encompasses preventive, curative, and corrective medical approaches. The opening lecture was delivered by one of the world’s leading experts, Prof. Emanuele Bartoletti, President of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine, further underscoring the international significance of this event.
